Does fitted joinery or finishing work need planning permission?
Most internal fitted joinery and decorative finishing does not need planning permission. Consent may be relevant for listed buildings, external alterations or work that changes the structure, so these details should be checked where applicable.
How long does bespoke joinery and finishing take?
The programme depends on design development, measurements, material availability, workshop preparation and the complexity of the finish. We explain fabrication lead times and agree the installation sequence before work begins.
Can we live at home while the work is completed?
In most cases, yes. We can often work room by room, although access, noise, dust and drying times need to be considered. We agree working areas and protect the rest of the property before installation starts.
How is the quotation prepared?
We quote from site measurements, the agreed design, materials, ironmongery and finish. Bespoke items are described clearly, with any client choices or allowances identified before manufacture.
Who manages manufacture, installation and finishing?
Gibson Builders coordinates the measuring, preparation, specialist joinery, installation and decorative finishing. We also check alignment, operation and final details as part of the handover.
